About us
A feast for the senses
We opened in 2012 with a kitchen full of Portugality, representing the best of Portugal.
A bright and airy space, that breath’s Portugal in every sense.
A tribute to the old Lisbon taverns, with walls lined with wooden shelves filled with colour and character. The space is adorned with countless traditional Portuguese objects — vintage bottles, records, olive oil tins, and other timeless pieces that tell the story of Lisbon’s cultural heritage. Every detail invites you to feel the charm and nostalgia of the city, where the past and present meet in perfect harmony.
When we opened Can the Can in 2012, we wanted to tell a story. A story about Portugal, about creativity, and about how tradition can be transformed into something new.
And just like that, an idea turned into a work of art. Thousands of cans, symbols of Portuguese culture and the country’s deep connection to the sea. Piece by piece, they became something greater: a chandelier, made from over three thousand tin cans.
Today, it hangs proudly in the centre of our space — not just as a light fixture, but as a beacon of who we are. A celebration of Portuguese culture, craftsmanship, and the belief that even the simplest things can shine when touched by imagination.
